Ashley, Lisa & Leslie purchased what is now Interlude's Pet Paradise, LLC in February 2007. We will be renovating for many years to come so please stop in frequently to see our changes. Interlude's Pet Paradise is a member of the American Boarding Kennel Association. Every year, staff members travel to the annual four day ABKA national convention. All three owners have taken and passed the Pet Care Technician test and the Advanced Pet Care Technician test. All full-time animal handlers working at Interlude are required to take and pass the level one Pet Care Test. Interlude's Pet Paradise knows that each pet is an individual and will go above and beyond to make sure that each pet get what he/she needs to make their boarding experience comfortable and pleasant.
Lisa (Deffinbaugh) grew up in the Silver Spring/Ashton area and now lives close to her family here in Southern MD. Lisa has worked at four different kennels including one which was owned and operated by a board member of The American Boarding Kennel Association (ABKA). Both Lisa and Leslie feel fortunate to have worked for this kennel because of the education that was made available to them. Before buying Interlude, Lisa ran a successful pet sitting business from her home for many years. She has over 20 years experience in the kennel business. Lisa enjoys horseback riding, skiing, Country music and camping.
Leslie grew up in Columbia, MD and has always had a passion for all living creatures, including exotic ones. Leslie worked at one kennel for nearly ten years. Before buying Interlude, Leslie spent four years working in the medical field with small animals. During that time, she attended the Veterinary Continuing Education Expo in 1997 and has been certified by the American Dental Association for Veterinary Technicians in dental procedures. When she left the veterinary field to become a kennel operator, she was the head surgery technician, pre and post operative nurse, and assistant hospital manager. Leslie enjoys wildlife & animal photography, many genres of music (especially Van Morrison), reading a good book & a lot of short visits to NYC.

Ashley grew up primarily in Calvert County and has worked at the Interlude Kennel for over six years. Before that, she worked a brief stint at the Applejack K9 Academy in Charlotte Hall. She is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland (Go Terps!) with a degree in Communication. Ashley’s intense love for animals and the boarding industry has led her to a career in the animal field. She enjoys working out, going out with friends, and traveling to the beach.
